  Cancer

From an email to Father Fontana (and the rest of a prayer group), June 13th, 2008:

Dear Faithful Friends,

I am sure you see my emails and think..... time is up. Well this <email> is to tell you about a MIRACLE. Miracles are happening. Personally I believe that God is working for us.

Today I talked with my mother. She received information from a PET scan she had 1 week ago. Low and behold nothing was detected. What does that mean exactly when 6 months ago she was to be consumed by lymphomas? Well it means prayers are answered. The doctor reassured her she is Cancer free and in remission. REMISSION! Well, How... PRAYERS! She did ask the doctor when she should she him again...his answer was when you miss me! My mother was thorough enough to ask if she should still take Rituxian to stop the future cancer. His reply was that 80% of his advice is NO. Only 20% says yes to preventative therapy. Only because he knows Cancer kills. Her decision was to recover her health! Good one!

And the final head fake.. You can drive! Which was not with in reach because of neuropathy from the chemo. ( Her feeling and movement is returning,) She also is living in Beecher (independently) Now what do I mentally do? For the past year, I stressed , prepared, worried, dreamed and prayed. I never believed my family was worthy of Prayers. We all are worthy if it is meant to be.

I have had such mixed emotions on this journey. Now that it has had a happy ending I feel relieved. But that does not diminish anyone who has had a "cancer journey". This illness consumes the whole family. One's feeling of death or cancer never really goes away. If there is a lesson, I feel it is enjoy life daily. Trust, Believe and Hope. No one knows God's intent. A doctor cannot dictate your destiny.

I want to Thank You for your prayers and support. I have felt such a deep connection with humans. I guess they call it humanity. I didn't relate to it until I lived it. We have such an innate motive to help. I feel Blessed that I could be part of such a great experience.. My Faith is stronger. My appreciation to life is greater. My tolerance to challenges is higher. My control issues are lessened. And the greatest gift is seeing people of all race try to heal my mother. I look at humankind with different eyes.

I wonder at times if my mother's suffering was for my lesson. I will never know. One more unanswered mystery.

Knowing that prayers are answered please keep Phyllis my 2nd mother in your prayers. She has suffered from colon cancer for three years. It recently mastisized in her brain. They cut it out. The doctors feel it is successful. Phyllis has been a great maternal force for me. When I was 11 my mother sent me to California to live my summer with Phyllis. Well, the next summer I begged to go again. In my heart I have been part of their family ever since. Its odd she too has cancer. My mother and her have been friends since they were 14.

My connection to all of you is deeper knowing you supported me through this time. Thank You Please never hesitate to ask of me. I am always praying for you. Keep in close touch. God Bless You, I love you all,

Traci

February 11th, 2008:

McHenry, IL - Dear Father Fontana, in September of 2006 my brother in law passed away and you prayed with us at the funeral home and said the mass at Christ the King Church in Wonder Lake, IL. I was so moved by the way you spoke and carried yourself, I knew you had something special to give. I looked you up on the internet and found "Mary's Helpers". I purchased a nine day novena collection and attended a mass and healing service in Harvard, IL on October 8, 2006. I was diagnosed with colon cancer and had surgery in October of 2005. My one year CT scan and colonoscopy were due and I was in need of spiritual help. At the healing service you prayed over me and a feeling of complete submission came upon me and layed me on the floor. After a few moments I was able to stand, returned to my pew and cried. I felt that Jesus was with me and in me, and with His grace I would be on a road to recovery. Three weeks after attending your service and 1 year after surgery I was told I was cancer free. Now two years and three months later, I am still cancer free, becoming a catholic, soon to make my penance, communion and confirmation. Everyday when I wake and when I go to bed I thank God I'm alive and ask God to help me be the person that He wants me to be. Thank you for all you do. God bless. M. Wilson

From the May 2007 Newsletter:

Illinois: The healing service March 25, 2007 was a most beautiful experience. The lovely peace and quiet filled the sanctuary with the presence of our Blessed Lord Jesus. I personally felt a calm reassurance that all would be well with my battle of cancer. The loving arms of our Lord comforted us all. Bless you for all that you are doing in His name.

At this same Healing Service: (From Sister JoAn) A good Baptist friend of mine received a blessing of being able to breathe better. She said also that she felt so much peace. Doctors thought she had cancer of the lung – turned out it is an infection (She found that out before she came.) She has cancer of the liver so I ask for your prayers to continue for her…(Editor’s Note: Father Glenn has so many prayers requested over the phone also, for cancer relief. We don’t often receive testimony letters from the many people who come in contact with the healing power of Jesus through Father Glenn. We encourage you to share the good news of how wonderful, how beautiful, how astounding are His miracles that you receive. No healing is ever small. Jesus helps us to live day to day in His Love!!!)

Wisconsin: “We are grateful for the many blessings and spiritual growth God has given us through you. On June 2006 our paths crossed when we attended Mass in Iron Mt., Michigan. At the time, our son Eric faced a diagnosis of recurring Hodgkin’s lymphoma, which was originally treated in 2005. At the end of Mass prior to a Eucharistic procession, you blessed our entire family, and asked the Lord to cure Eric of the cancer. Over the next two week period, additional testing was done on tissue, and it was determined that Eric did not have recurring lymphoma as believed from initial diagnosis. Eric was diagnosed with reactive inflammation of the lymph nodes and is still in remission. Ultimately, we don’t know why the diagnosis was different amongst the three reviews that took place. What we do know is that a miracle either occurred in the actual remission of the recurrence, or in the multiple reviews that were guided by the Lord’s hand to come to a correct diagnosis. We continue to keep you and your mission in our prayers…”. (Editors note: Father Glenn told me of this when he blessed Eric with the Eucharist at Mass in the Upper Peninsula. The Catholic Catechism tells us that the church does believe that the most powerful healings come from the presence of Jesus in the Eucharist…that Jesus desires us to be whole and healed. )

Illinois: “In the fall of 2005, my brother Terry had surgery to remove a tumor from his brain. The doctors told him it was terminal brain cancer. He was given nine months to live. He took chemotherapy and radiation treatments and had routine check ups in 2006. In November 2006, he was diagnosed with another tumor in the brain and given six weeks to live. At this time he was experiencing problems with speech and balance. About three weeks after this my wife and I “stood in” for him at Father Fontana’s healing Mass. We both asked for healing for Terry’s brain cancer. In early January 2007, Terry went to a doctor in Minneapolis, MN. The tests then showed the newest mass was gone and only scar tissue remained.” (Two weeks ago he found out that he has another tumor developing in an entirely different location of his brain and asks again for prayer. Please pray to Jesus for him, as we will.)

Chicago, Illinois: (Editor’s Note: We have been following Sean’s progress with Kidney cancer for over three years. It is wonderful to hear from his grandmother about his progress…) “Dear Father Glenn, I feel I have to write you and give you all the good news about my grandson Sean. Ever since he saw you at a healing service in Oct. 2004, he has been improving. We all can’t believe all that has taken place since then. He was at stage 4 cancer when first diagnosed in 2003. Last Wednesday, Jan. 10th, 2007 his oncologist said he was CANCER FREE!…We feel we just can’t thank you and Almighty God enough for this. I’ve said the Miracle Prayer every day since Sean first got ill.”

Cary, IL: I attended the recent healing service and was prayed over. I had a hysterectomy on March 8 for cancer surgery and the doctor was able to get all the cancer out. I will not need any chemo or radiation. My recovery has been very quick so far. I thank God for healing.

From the October 2006 Newsletter:

A young woman wrote to Father, “I was diagnosed with cancer in the pancreas area and it metastasized to the liver. We were asked to come to a Healing Mass. I am not Catholic but we are all children of God. This was my first experience at a healing. Father Fontana was the priest doing the healing by the Power and Authority of Jesus. I am sitting, waiting and watching and all of the sudden people started to fall to the floor. When it was my turn I closed my eyes and brought Jesus into my mind, heart and soul and meditated on Him. I heard Father Fontana speaking and felt a touch on my head. His voice sounded distant and I’m not sure what he was saying. Then I felt heat come into my head down to my midsection. I decided to sit down and I stayed meditating on Jesus. God can heal us at any moment and I know God has healed me. The tumor in the liver is gone and the pancreas area is shrinking. I have faith in God and wait patiently for Him to make me whole. Praise God!” -Kathy.

From the April 2006 Newsletter:

“I would like to share my story with you and you have my permission to publish my story with your “Mary Helpers Program.” …”Father placed his hand on the lump in my neck and prayed…I had a burning sensation in that area of my neck…After many tests no trace of cancer was left anywhere.”…”I truly believe that the healing blessing Fr. Fontana gave me and the trust I have that Jesus could and would cure me is the reason they found no more cancer in my body. Trust and pray and you will see GOD’S WILL in your life…..”

From Louise: “I had recently been diagnosed with cancer…Father Fontana asked me if I believed in miracles, I said yes. Then he prayed over me. I came away with such peace not experienced in a long time. Today was my doctor’s appointment…I was cancer FREE…Our God is an awesome God…”

From Marian: “…my grandson’s kidney biopsy showed that he didn’t need the procedure since his creatinine level had come down for the first time in almost two years….I know your prayers are very powerful Father Glenn.”

From Dina:…”A CAT scan revealed a blockage in my intestines. I returned to Chicago...met with my friend who put me in touch with Father Glenn Fontana. With him I made my confession and then had him pray over me. It was such a powerful experience I was moved to tears…I am a cancer survivor of 15 years….Father prayed and said “don’t worry, God is telling me you will be ok.” He prayed for healing. I wept hoping and praying that the power of God truly was coming to me through this holy man. The next day I went for my scan. The CAT scan showed nothing. Other testing revealed nothing there. The doctor had no explanation of how the mass simply vanished. The doctor said, “maybe it was a miracle”…All I know is I was prayed over and I was healed. Since that time I have been telling my story to anyone who will listen…I am fortunate to have met Father Glen Fontana and know he is doing the Lord’s work in a very powerful way”.

From Peggy: “I want to thank you for offering me spiritual guidance and healing in the face of reoccurrence of my breast cancer…Healing comes in many forms and in God’s time.” (Note: We have many requests for prayers for cancer relief. “ We believe in You, Lord, for your Holy Will and many blessings received from life’s adversities’ We ask now for your tender mercies Amen.”)

From the March 1st, 2005 Newsletter:

From Chicago written by Marian:…..January 6, 2005. Marian writes about her 22 yr. old grandson with kidney cancer who was on chemo following surgery in Sept. of 2003. In October of 2004 she and her son Kevin took Sean to St. John Vianny Church for Father Fontana’s Healing Service. Father blessed Sean and told him to continue to see his doctor. On Dec. 15th, the doctor gave him a good report. All the white and red cells were normal and everything was greatly improved. – February 15, 2005: “I just have to tell you Father, that yesterday Sean’s parents took him to Loyola Hospital to have the kidney biopsy. The doctors there told him it was now unnecessary to have this done “because his creatine level was down for the first time in almost two years”. Sean said, “Please thank Father Fontana for his prayers.” Marian wrote to Father, “Your prayers are very powerful….Father continue your great work and God bless you”.

From Ballwin, MO: “Dear Father Fontana…..Thank you so much for calling this morning and praying for Josephine…..was diagnosed last March with an inoperable cancerous brain tumor and her prognosis was very poor. She has undergone chemotherapy and recently finished radiation therapy. As of last week, her tumor did show a very slight amount of shrinkage”…..Despite all of her problems, Josephine is very happy. Her mother continues, “Regardless of Josephine’s prognosis, we continue to grow closer to our Lord Jesus everyday and thank Him for our many blessings. Josephine is an amazing little girl and this trial has been the beginning of a great spiritual journey for her (and me). Josephine believes strongly in Jesus and tells me often that Jesus has healed her.”

“Dear Father Fontana…You have been God-sent to me in my time of strife. The Lord REALLY DOES His work in wondrous ways. On Dec. 23, 2004 you came to my aid in Iowa City University Hospital when I was in real trouble. My doctor, Dr._____ had to perform a life saving surgery on a cancerous tumor that had developed in my abdomen. I became very ill very quickly (within the previous 24 hours) and it turned extremely life threatening. I arrived at the hospital for emergency surgery that not only saved my life, but gave me a new clearer understanding that God truly made man in His own image. He made us to give complete love and compassion for those who cannot fend for themselves”..…From Bob who lives in Henderson, Nevada.

Also in Iron Mountain a woman came to the healing service at St. Mary and St. Joseph Church. Previously two CT Scans showed cancer of the small intestine. The Holy Spirit directed Father Glenn to pray over her. She did return to her doctor and another CT Scan was ordered. She was completely free of cancer!

From April 1st, 2004:

Church of The Assumption, Ashkum, Illinois. A man came forward to ask for a healing from cancer on the right shoulder. He reported that the doctor just two weeks ago had discovered that he had a cancer growth on the right shoulder. This man state his doctor was going to start treatment within two weeks for the cancer area. Father Fontana, prayed over him and prayed over the spot where the cancer was. Father Fontana, told the man go to your doctor to be reexamined the cancer area. Father Fontana said your doctor will be surprised and not able to explain what happened to the cancer area. The man felt his body getting very warm he expressed to Father Fontana. Father Fontana said "Praise God'! He is working His healing grace upon you. The mans wife took a look at her husband shoulder and report to all in the church the cancer spot was gone.

From February 8th, 2004:

Our Lady of Guadalupe, Silvis, Illinois. I was present at Father Fontana's healing mass. Upon explaining to Father Fontana that I had recently been diagnosed with cancer, he asked me if I believed in miracles, I said yes. The he prayed over me. I came away with such peace not experienced in a long time. Today was my doctor’s appointment to find out if the surgery got all of the cancer and the answer was yes. I was cancer FREE. Our God is an awesome God; our prayers are awesome gifts in receiving a healing of a human affliction. Thank you Father Fontana for being this gift and guiding me. - Moline, Illinois
